British Government Rebuked.

[Special to the Tribune.]

Washington, Jan. 23.—Gen. Butler telegraphed here an explicit denial of the statement that he attempted to control the Congressional interests of Mr. Bourligney.

Gentlemen connected with a Foreign Legation have received a letter stating that the French Government opened a correspondence with the British Cabinet about the Alabama's depredations, that Drouyn De L'Huys' opinion is that the tacit consent of England to the launching and fitting out of the privateer is in direct violation of the letter and spirit of the treaty at Paris, and constitutes a breach of the law of nations. It is also stated that the British Cabinet have taken the matter under consideration and is now trying to extricate itself from the difficulty.
