ANALYSIS.
It now seems, that some of the same party who forged letters for the deserter Harris, have also been forging opinions for the patriot Jefferson! Why will they thus call on dead men to slander the living? Are all their living slanderers discredited and disgraced, that they must thus cry to the people, Hark from the tombs.' Can neither the criminal nor the sage sleep in peace? Must these Sauls with troubled minds, call spirits from their dread abode, to mingle with the affairs of men? Like the wicked King of Israel, the responses they obtain fill them with terror and despair. The ghost of Harris pronounces them guilty of falsehood and forgery; the ghost of Jefferson tells them that their kingdom shall pass from them and be possessed by the persecuted David, now in the wilderness of Tennessee, the "only man left" who can save our republican Israel.
What will the people think of a party who can sustain themselves only by such means? Read their papers, and say what else they give to their readers, except these and similar slanders on the old soldier!—Frankfort Argus.
