Full Text

The Cahawba [Alabama] Press, in noticing the late meeting at Florence for the nomination of a President, concludes as follows:

"So much for one county of this state with regard to the others, particularly the southern and middle counties, with the prevailing sentiment of which, on this question we are better acquainted than with the northern, we have no hesitation in saying that Adams is the most popular candidate, and from what we have been able to learn we believe this is the case in most of the northern counties, next to him, Calhoun's friends are most numerous. Mr. Crawford has many warm friends, but their number appears to be diminishing daily. Gen. Jackson has many friends, but Clay is scarcely spoken of as a candidate in this section of the state, though we believe he has many personal friends and admirers in the northern counties."

* In Madison we have no doubt, Jackson would receive a large majority.
