Marshall
Slaying Case

KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Oct. 25-

Two Seattle officers who are here to testify before the grand jury, are helping run down clues with the Federal officials in connection with the brutal murder last Monday of G. P. Marshall, fish buyer, on his boat near here. It is announced two suspects are held for questioning.

The inquest disclosed the skull was fractured and there was also a small calibre bullet wound. The victim's hands were tied.

The safe or strong box which Marshall had aboard his boat, containing probably $1,000, is missing.

A stranger gave a local grocer a message last Tuesday saying the Marshall boat was in trouble. Later a man, answering the same general description, but in different clothing, handed a note to a member of the crew of the Cygan giving the name of the Marshall boat and the same information.

The Cygan went to Higgins Bay and found Marshall's boat, the Phoenix IV. Signs of a furious struggle was evidenced on the boat.

Marshall's body was found aboard.

The City Council has offered a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the murderer.
