Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman at Lisbon, dated November 22, 1758.
"Tis true, the heroic King of Prussia has met with a Rebuff from Count Daun: nay confesses he was surprized: however by all Accounts he has made the Austrians pay dear for the Advantage they gain'd; and is in a Condition to face them and maintain his Ground in Saxony & Sileia. Those Armies are now so near each other, as are likewise those of the French and Hanoverians, that we are daily expecting to hear of Battels ensuing in both Quarters: God grant they may be favourable for our Interest, for the better Security of our Conquests in America, for your kind Advices relating whereto I am infinitely oblig'd to you."
