REYKJAVIK, Iceland, Aug. - United States Marines who arrived in Iceland a few months ago are now in permanent barracks and have all the conveniences of a military post in the States.
Climate Surprises Marines
What surprises the Marines most is the comparatively mild climate in Iceland. The island, which has an area of 39,709 square miles, is of volcanic origin and has many geysers and hot springs. There are large gardens around the hot springs.
Semi-Tropical Products
In some places even semi-tropical products are grown. The climate is greatly modified by the Gulf Stream.
