LEXINGTON, (Virginia.)
Wednesday, March 10.

On Wednesday morning the 3d inst. about three o'clock, this town was alarmed with the cry of FIRE, which proved to be in the Court-house. That building was so far gone, it was impossible to save it. However, through the active and praise-worthy exertions of the citizens, together with the calmness of the night, the flames were prevented from spreading. We cannot hazard an opinion how this house caught; people have different conjectures on the subject.
