Breach Follows Dismissal of K. of K.'s Personal Friend--Censors Refuse to Pass Messages Relating to Trouble--Favorite is Finally Forced to Resign - Formerly a Business Man
NOT EQUAL TO JOB ASSIGNED
New York, Aug. 10.--Mail advices received here from London disclose startling information of a serious breach that has occurred between Lord Kitchener, minister of war, and David Lloyd George, minister of munitions, which has caused so much alarm among government officials in England that the censors refused to pass the news.
The break came following the summary dismissal from the munitions department of Sir Percy Girouard, a personal friend of Kitchener, by Lloyd George.
Girouard was sent to the munitions department, presumably at the request of Kitchener, soon after the department was formed. Lloyd George, in dismissing Kitchener's favorite, gave as the reason that Girouard was not equal to the tasks assigned to him.
No news has passed the censor respecting the rancor existing between the head of the munitions department and Lord Kitchener, and the mail brought the first word of Sir Percy Girouard's resignation.
Girouard went to the munitions department from the directorship of the great Armstrong firm. At the time Lloyd George accepted his arrival with a public expression of thanks made in the house of commons.
