May 21. Capt. Russell, in the sloop Stork, from Cape-Francois, informs that a few days previous to his sailing, there was an insurrection among the troops : it took its rise in consequence of one of the officers striking some of the soldiers.--A party of them to the amount of 240 took their arms and marched off into the country, intending, as was supposed, to go to some of the Spanish settlements.--The whole town was alarmed, and all the inhabitants under arms, the light-horse pursued and overtook them, and by their persuasions were induced to return, 15 or 20 of the ringleaders were tried & 8 or 10 condemned to hard labour, the remainder were to be sent to France, two excepted, who were executed the day before he left the Cape. The Inhabitants at the time of his departure still kept under arms, and were in great confusion.
