Sunday, Oct. 3 was considered a record day for the members of John Wesley A. M. E. Z. church, Beechwood and Moore Place. The day was filled with programs, all of which proved successful.
In the morning the pastor, Rev. I. I. Moore preached an eloquent sermon on the subject, "The Wine Press and Its Treaders." The message was well received.
In the afternoon the ushers sponsored a program on which appeared splendid local talent. The renditions by Doris Hickman and Leroy Scott were received with such hearty applause that they were compelled to give encores.
Miss Hickman's contributions were readings, while Mr. Scott's were musical, which revealed the fine musical ability he possesses.
At the end of the program the officers of John Wesley's Usher Board were installed before a capacity crowd.
The Varick Christian Endeavor and evening services were carried out as scheduled.
