Extract of a letter from Leboeuf, to a gentleman in Carlisle, dated Fort Leboeuf, June 27th, 1794.
"I enclose you a copy of a message which was received from the Six Nations since our arrival here, and also the answer made to the message. The following impertinence of Mr. Chapin, who styles himself Agent for the United States, in conjunction with Mr. Johnston, a British Agent—Reasons that will be hereafter explained prevented us from treating them, as I think, we would have been treated at a British post if we had acted in the same way."
