RED WING SEMINARY VOTED JUNIOR COLLEGE

Board of Education of Norwegian Lutheran Church of America Grants Petition of Committee of Fifteen, Seminary Faculty and Local Chamber of Commerce.

At a meeting of the Board of Education of the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America held at the Augsburg Publishing House on Wednesday it was voted to permit the Red Wing Seminary to begin Freshman College work next September. President H. E. Jorgensen and Professors O. O. Stageberg and J. B. Lokkesmoe attended the meeting. The announcement was brought to the student body at the Wednesday evening meeting by President Jorgensen and was greeted with cheers. The decision of the Board of Education is a matter of gratification to the whole community since a Junior College in our midst will mean a saving of thousands of dollars for local homes and business establishments. This together with the prestige that is always granted a college town makes local citizens feel that the decision to re-instate a college department is one of great importance to the entire community.
