PLYMOUTH, June 7.

The legislature of the state of New York, rose on the 27th ult. after a long and tedious sitting, in which they passed sixty-five acts. Their sitting was procrastinated in a great measure, by the Council of Revision, which by many of the people is considered as the superfluous part of their constitution, and as unnecessary to the wheels of government, as the fifth wheel to a coach.

By one of their acts they have directed the treasurer of the state to pay into the treasury of the United States the sum of 147,734 69/90ths. dollars, wisely and judiciously determining to discharge, as fast as possible, their quota of the continental debt, rather than sport with the liberties of the people, or saddle posterity with a 25 years tax, to be collected and appropriated by Congressional officers.
