Full Text

The railroad from Hereford, P. Q. connecting with the Upper Coos rail way, is completed, and open for business. The fact that the new road enters Vermont from Canada and runs about one and a half miles in the town of Canaan will necessitate the establishment of another customs house at the Vermont line, and John M. Reardon, who has been in the Customs House here for the past year, has been appointed to take charge of the new office. Mr. Reardon left for the scene of his labors last Monday, carrying with him the earnest good wishes of the many friends he has made during his year's residence in Island Pond.

The new road is expected and undoubtedly will do a very heavy lumber business.
