A WOLF CAUGHT. A correspondent at Wakefield informs us, that on Saturday the 31st ult. it was discovered, by a young man of that town named Palmer, that his trap, set for the purpose of taking a Fox, about one third of a mile from Hall's Cotton Factory, in the southwesterly part of the town, had eloped from the spot where he had placed it. On pursuing the track, however, about one hundred rods distance, it was found with a sturdy wolf attached to it. Several persons were soon assembled, and it was determined to take his Wolfship alive; which being done, he was escorted to Palmer's house, where he yet remains a guest.

Upon admeasurement, it was found that his length from the nose to the end of the tail, was five feet eight inches; his height, two feet seven inches; weight seventy-eight pounds. It is somewhat singular, says our correspondent, that so large and ferocious an animal, caught in a small trap with but one spring, should have been so much annoyed and so easily taken.
