Washington. March 3.—Acting Commissary General Weston is in receipt of reports from Manila speaking in the highest terms of the present arrangements in use to supply the army with fresh meats. It is said that the meats which are brought out from the United States or Australia by the naval supply ship Glacier or taken from Australian merchant steamers have been kept as long as seven months in perfect condition. The reports declare that after witnessing the native methods of slaughtering animals and the stock, there is no doubt as to the great superiority of the frozen meats brought by the naval vessels for the army in the Philippines.
