The Radical Row Renewed.
A Third Governor in the Field.
OMAHA, Feb. 9.—Gov. James, who has been acting as Governor since the impeachment of Butler, left this State yesterday evening, going east on business. J. S. Hascall, President of the Senate, left this place also yesterday evening for the Capital, and this morning we have a proclamation from him as acting Governor convening the State Legislature. The call is made, among other things, for the purpose of taking action as to when any offices shall be vacant and the manner of filling the same; the investigation of the official conduct of any officer, and if deemed expedient, their impeachment.
It is claimed this is a sharp practice with the intention of impeaching the absent Governor, who lately prorogued the Legislature, in which case Hascall would become acting Governor of the State. The Legislature is called for Feb. 15. Gov. James will probably return in two or three days.
