From Augusta, they had advice, that one William Thompson, a trader who set off from thence for the Creek nation was found killed with a hatchet and a tomahawk on the road, which is the first blood that has been spilt on the Creek path since the commencement of the present troubles in those parts. The Indians of the lower Creek towns have always declared they would go to war against the Cherokees if ever the path of their nation was spoiled. A messenger is accordingly sent up to acquaint them of this murder, and to see if they will be as good as their word.
