We have most cheering accounts from the friends of the Administration, from almost every township in the county, and our opinions as expressed in the Intelligencer of the 17th of March, are every day confirmed and strengthened by the assurances of gentlemen of undoubted veracity. We do not wish to deceive our friends at home or abroad, and unless we had strong evidence on which to found our opinions, we should never have said that Bucks County would give from 500 to 1000 majority for Mr. Adams.
A gentleman, at whose house the election is held for one of the districts in this county, called at our office last week, and communicated a few facts, which, although not intended by him, we are unwilling to withhold from the public. He said that at the last Presidential election he voted for General Jackson, and not one vote was given for Mr. Adams at that district—and he did not then know of a single individual in his neighborhood who was favorable to him. He assured us in very strong language, and for reasons which he thought sufficient, that he now advocated the cause of Mr. Adams; and should support him at the next election, and do all he could to keep General Jackson out. He moreover stated that he had taken great pains to know the sentiments of his neighbors, and had no doubt of their being a considerable majority for Mr. Adams. It will be recollected that the opposition party build their hopes of success entirely on the German districts in this county. Their hopes we should judge were without foundation, as in this district there are more Germans than any other in the county.
