John P. Whittaker, president of the Atlanta Mutual Building Loan and Savings Association and at present and for many years Registrar of Atlanta University and Morehouse College and Director of the Atlanta University Summer School, was signally honored by the 27 Club of Atlanta.
This significant award is made annually to the Atlanta man or woman who in the opinion of the 27 Club has achieved most for the City and his fellow men during the preceding year. The citation which accompanied the award read as follows:
"For his real interest in civic problems; for his generous contribution of time and funds in support of numerous organizations working in the field of community welfare: for his long and inspiring leadership in the higher education of Negroes and because he is largely responsible (Continued on Page 6 Column 1)
