Episcopalians Meet at Rutland.

Rutland, June 21.—The annual convention of the diocese of Vermont opened this morning at Trinity church with a large attendance. Most of the clergy of the diocese and about 100 lay delegates arrived last evening. The first service of the day was at 6:15 o'clock when morning prayer was said by Rev. A. W. Stone. Holy communion was celebrated at 6:30 o'clock by Rev. Arthur W. Stone.

The convention met for organization at 8:20 o'clock, Bishop Hall presiding. Holy communion was celebrated by Bishop Hall at 9:15 o'clock, assisted by Dr. J. Isham Bliss of Burlington and Rev. Mr. Foster. A business meeting followed and at 11:15 o'clock Bishop Hall delivered his annual address. The various diocesan reports were then given and the following standing committee was elected: Rev. Dr. J. Isham Bliss of Burlington, Rev. Theodore B. Foster of Rutland, Rev. W. F. Weeks of Brandon, Col. Smith of Montpelier, J. A. Arthur of Burlington and George Briggs of Brandon. At 1 o'clock lunch was served to the delegates in the Y. M. C. A. parlors, and the convention was again called to order at 3 o'clock for a business session. Evening prayer was said at 7 o'clock, followed by a missionary session. Matters of routine business were considered this evening and the convention adjourned, it being the first time in many years that the business was completed in one day.
