Management of the President's House.—We learn that the affairs of the White House at Washington, are all conducted by a colored man, by the name of Wilkins, whom the President hires at a salary, with perquisites, of $1700 per annum, and who disburses all the expenses of the palace. He has his office, where he keeps his accounts, employs and discharges whomsoever he pleases. His son, much of a gentleman, it is said, is employed at $1000 a year, and introduces all strangers to the President. His daughter is also employed at $300 a year. President Tyler has in all 18 colored persons hired. He has but two of his slaves with him, as servants. This is the first time that any of our Presidents have made a colored man the chief butler of his household.
