Full Text
An American in China --Was there ever a "free fight," since such institutions were, that did not embrace a live Yankee among the belligerents? We are "counted in" among the Hungarians, the Greeks, the Turks, the Poles, and now one of us turns up in China, fighting with the rebels. Dr. Martin, as he styles himself, has a leading position in the army of insurgents, and though several times wounded, seems to have escaped all serious harm.-- He says he was a physician in Carthage Ohio, and took a hand in the Mexican war.--Bulletin
