They marched from the City of Cael in Germany the 31st of March, and arrived at Stade (which is 28 Miles from Hamburgh, and 130 from Cael) the 26th of April, where they immediately embarked for England, and were about 16 Days in their Passage to Hampton Road. On Thursday five Companies of them arrived in this City, and on Friday came in five more, one Regiment in the whole, and Some Women. How long they will continue here, or how Soon they may be encamped, we cannot as yet learn. They make a very handsome Appearance, being in general tall and straight, though but slender made. Their Livery is blue turned up with red, and trimmed with white, in Imitation of Silver Lace: They all wear a Pigtail, made of their own Hair, reaching down below their Waist. The Officers, who are well made comely Men, are richly dressed in blue, trimmed with Gold Lace: The Lace to their Hats is remarkably broad. Their Behaviour is very obliging, genteel, and courteous. The common Soldiers are under strict Discipline, and carry themselves with great Decency and good Manners.
