Full Text

In Danger of Forked Lightning.
Murat Halstead.

The mind of Mr. Plumb, of the senate, is still in an agitated condition. He is looking abroad over the universe, as it were. Talk about reciprocity and he wants it extended to the end of the earth. Speak of sugar, and he would sweeten the Mississippi river and all of its tributaries, and he has a heart big enough to include all the hides of South America and the wool of Australia. If Mr. Plumb is not careful he may place himself in the way of being struck by forked lightning. We discern his luminous name in the Washington reports every morning like a newly arisen orb.
