Normal Closing,

A profitable session of the county normal closed last week. Before closing a teacher's association was formed with Mrs. Gamble for president. For vice presidents, Jas. Lumpkin, Miss Maggie Wiggins and Mrs. DeLisle were chosen. For secretary, Miss Erma Evans. The first meeting will be held the last Saturday in September.

Following are the resolutions as adopted by the students:

We, the teachers of Barber county, realizing that we have had a pleasant and profitable normal institute, do offer the following resolutions:

Resolved:

That to the corps of instructors we extend our gratitude for their untiring and cheerful efforts in making the crooked paths straight.

We will go out to our respective schools strengthened and feeling that it is "good to have been here."

We are duly appreciative of Mrs. Gamble's judgment in choosing such an able conductor as Prof. Rhodes, such excellent instructors as Messrs. Kelley and Gamble and so admirable a primary teacher as Miss Harris.

We are truly thankful for the untiring efforts these teachers have put forth.

We appreciate most heartily Prof. Rhodes work in elocution and didactics and will never forget what interesting classes he has made of the constitution and physiology recitations.

That Mr. Kelley's classes in grammar, Physics and Arithmetic were the most wide-awake classes in the institute, and his lecture on "Ideals" was fine in every respect.

That we can say of him "to know him is a liberal education."

That to Mr. Gamble we owe our deepest gratitude for his enthusiasm manifested in all his work, especially his book-keeping and geography classes.

That we thank Miss Harris for her grand example of patience, care, kindness and untiring energy shown in her work with the little people.

That we extend our thanks to the county superintendent for her untiring efforts to make this institute profitable and pleasant to us.

We feel that she has left nothing undone that lay in her power to make the institute one of unusual interest. The class in physical culture was especially appreciated.

That we extend our thanks to the people of Medicine Lodge for the kind treatment received at their hands. They have opened their homes that they might be enjoyed by us. They have contributed in many ways to make our stay pleasant.

The school board of district No. 1 merit a compliment by permitting the normal to be held in the school building and we assure them that these favors have been well appreciated and thankfully received.

That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the Crescent and Index for publication.

J.P. WALLACE,

MARY STARKEY,

Lou Ayers,

IRMA EVANS.
