THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
Col. Thomas S. Kenan Will Give $100 to Start It.

The proposition made in Sunday's News and Observer by B. F. Montague, Esq., to be one of ten to give $100 toward establishing a public library in Raleigh, is bearing fruit, as the following note shows:

Raleigh, N. C., March 12.

To the Editor:-
I second the proposition of Mr. B. F. Montague to give $100, to be paid in installments, for the establishment of a public library in Raleigh.
