Twelve cases were brought before the recorder this morning, and $123 in fines were assessed. Five cases were dismissed and one continued.
John Sweeney, vagrant. He seems to be a little "loco." Yesterday morning he swore that he had been discharged from a place because he was one-half hour late to work. This morning it was proved that he had quit working on his own account, the day before, at noon. The judge fined him $5 or 5 days, "just to keep him out of mischief."
Joe Saladino, disorderly, dismissed.
Juan Trevino, drunk and disorderly. $5.
J. V. Baker, beating and striking, dismissed.
P. J. Reihl, drunk and disorderly, $5.
E. Rackett, Eugene Tabor and Willie Van Slick, three boys under seventeen years of age, were run in for vagrancy.
The boys are said to be in the habit of loafing around the San Pedro park. They all have parents in the city who stated that the boys are living at their homes. Their cases were dismissed as two are attending school in the city and two was intending to leave for some college in the state.
E. Zinsmeyer, keeping a disorderly bar-room, continued.
John McGee, the pistol toter, who shot into a passenger car at the crossing of the I. & G. N. by the Fredericksburg road yesterday; who insulted women and stuck his gun in a man's face, and who is reported as an all-around tough, turns out to be a boy about seventeen or eighteen years old, very green, and appears to have slept in a hay-stack lately. He was out to have a little fun with another young friend. They got drunk and consequently tough. They insulted some young girls, and the man who was with the girls proceeded to resent the insult. McGee pulled his gun on him, the man grabbed the boy, threw him down and took the gun away from him and then turned him over to the special policeman at San Pedro park. The judge fined him $100, and gave him 30 days, which will keep him out of trouble for a short time at least.
Joseph Spence, a soldier belonging to F company, 5th infantry, was fined $5 for being drunk and disorderly.
J. C. Dale, drunk and down, $3.
The partner of John McGee has not as yet been found.
