Los Angeles—(Atlas)—Jackie Robinson, star second baseman of the Brooklyn Dodgers was chosen as one of the 10 outstanding men by a survey of 1,500 newspaper men in the 1949 edition of Year News annual.
Others in the selected list are: Stanley Kramer, producer of "Home of the Brave," movies; Milton Berle, radio and television; Dr. Albert Schweitzer, religion; Secretary of State Dean Acheson, statesmanship; Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, world peace; Dr. Charles Seymour, president of Yale University, education; Walter Reuther president of the CIO-UAW, labor; Serge Koussevitzky, retiring conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, music and Arthur Miller, author of "Death of a Salesman."
