SERGEANT JOHNSON DIES LEADING CHARGE

The news of the death in France of Sergeant Richard Johnson of Charlottesville, Va., has been received by Mr. A. H. M. Saltonstall, of Berkeley Springs, father of the unfortunate young man's wife, who was Miss Muriel Saltonstall. They had been married but seven months, shortly before he sailed for France. He was with the 317th Regiment of the 80th Division and was wounded while leading a charge at the battle of the Meuse on or about October 10. His mother and young wife are at Mr. Saltonstall's and both have been quiet in the past few weeks.
