The Victoria Strike-The Carpenters' Union of Victoria, No. 48, met at 10 o'clock this morning at St. James Hall. It was announced that carpenters coming to Victoria, and being in sympathy with the Union, could obtain assistance from the treasurer, in preference to going to work. A notification was received from the employers that 24 men would be required to work on Monday morning on the nine hour system, and it was expected that during the week all the men would resume work on the new basis. The chairman stated that any citizens requiring repairs, etc., could have the work performed on application at the hall any time during the day. Another meeting is called for Monday morning at 10 o'clock.-Victoria Post.
