While hunting at Bear Rocks, Thomas C. Yingling and Sampson C. Glass found a large bear in a hole among the rocks. The bear looked at them and lay down again. They shot it with bullets to the head, killing it instantly. It was one of the largest bears ever killed on these mountains and extremely fat.
