Full Text

Rich Quartz.

The quartz lead now being worked by Messrs. Green, Allen and others, on Deadwood Creek, is believed to be one of the most valuable in that section. It was opened some months ago, and a few tons of rock hauled to Grass Valley and crushed, which paid about $16 a ton; another lot was afterwards crushed at the Canada Hill mill, paying $33 a ton. They have now got down deeper on the lead, and are confident the rock they are now taking out will pay not less than $100 a ton. The lead is located about a quarter of a mile from the mill now being erected by Paul & Hoadly; it is owned by four men, who are hard at work getting out rock, and by the time the mill is completed they expect to have a hundred tons ready for crushing. The proprietors are all hard working men, and we trust their most sanguine anticipations may be realized.
