"Round and round and a do-cey-doe Hurry up, boys and don't be slow One more change and on to the next Swing your pardner and promenade all."
That refrain will be heard all the way up to Second Street in Hastings, Saturday, May 8th, coming from the jointly sponsored American Legion Post No. 11-Colonial Dance Club Folk Dance at the City Auditorium.
The festival is for the benefit of the Cancer Drive and all proceeds over and above actual expenses will be given to the Hastings drive.
Several of our depot personnel are involved in staging this dance. Captain D. Carlson, executive officer is chairman of the Program Committee, L. J. Wolff is Dance Committee Chairman and Floyd Stanley of Inspection, is Floor Committee Chairman. 'Nuff said.
The success of the dance is in the offing.
Dancing will be open for everyone for squares, Circle Two-Steps, Polkas, Schottisches and regardless of whether you can square dance or not, you are invited to attend and go through a set with those who know how.
If you prefer, you can watch the square dancing and dance the round dances between each set.
Also, if you don't want to dance at all, but want to watch the colorful performance, you may purchase spectator seats in the balcony.
General admission price for dancing is 50c per person or $1.00 a couple and 25c for balcony spectator seats.
Dancing will begin at 8:30 p. m. and end at midnight, with Basie Knight and his orchestra furnishing the music.
The Grand March begins at 8:30 followed by intermittent square and round dances and special features.
Ed's Note: You have seen our depot personnel very business-like and hard-at-work on the job.
Now, attend the dance and join them when they let their hair down and have a good time."
Nothing quite like a square dance to bring out one's true character.
