"Your favor of the 11th, is just come to hand; I am just recovering a little from the yellow fever, after being reported dead, and announced as such in the New-York papers: but it has pleased God to spare my life a little longer. My three Clerks are dead, being two nephews and an old man, which leave me totally alone, save the servants, and two of them are now sick."
"I trust your good wishes for the restoration of the health of this city, will very soon come to pass; for with joy I inform you, that the deaths for these two days past, have not been one for eight or ten that has happened for weeks before, and I hope that the city will be so healthy in another week, as to permit business to be carried on as usual."
