As some People have idly imagin'd that King William landed the 4th, his Birth-Day; see what Bishop Burnet, the Favourite of the Faction, says, Vol. I. p. 387. On the 3d of November we pass'd between Dover and Calais, and before Night came in Sight of the Isle of Wight. The next Day (the 4th) being the Day in which the Prince was both Born and Married, he fancy'd if he could land that Day, it would look auspicious to the Army, and animate the Soldiers. But we all, who consider'd that the Day following (the 5th) being Gunpowder Treason, our Landing that Day, might have a good Effect on the Minds of the English Nation, were better pleas'd to see that we could land no sooner.
