The old-line whigs of Iowa, held a convention at Burlington on the 12th instant. We learn, from the Burlington Gazette, that General Wm. Duane Wilson, of Fairfield, presided, and opened the meeting with a short speech. On motion of Mr. Starr, one of the most distinguished lawyers of Iowa, resolutions were adopted defining the position of the old-line whigs on all the topics of the day. The resolutions denounce black republican abolitionism in the most emphatic manner, and, regarding themselves as temporarily "under the weather," they counsel the whigs to "bide their time," and to have nothing to do with the black republican movement.
