Event Details
The council of Zurich, at its sitting of the 12th, resolved to send a commissioner to intercede amicably with the council of Valais for the Protestants. M. Hottinger was appointed, but the mission failed. The Council of Valais persisted in prohibiting Protestant worship. The only hope is rejection of the new constitution at the general meeting on October 20. All other legal redress is closed unless at the Helvetic Diet a majority refuses to guarantee the new constitution.
