NEW PUBLICATIONS.

We have received from the publishers, D. Lothrop & Co, a small volume entitled "Song Victories of the 'Bliss and Sankey Hymns.' being a collection of one hundred incidents in regard to the origin and power of the hymns contained in 'Gospel Hymns and Sacred Songs.'" The book also has an Introductory Letter by Rev. Geo. F. Pentecost, D. D., and an appendix containing biographical sketches of Mr. Ira D. Sankey and Mr. P. P. Bliss, J. F. Pierce has it for sale.

D. Appleton & Co. publish a volume entitled "A Mad World and its Inhabitants." By Julius Chambers. The author of this work feigned insanity and was placed in a private mad-house in New York. His purpose was to spy out and expose the treatment of patients in the institution, which, according to the revelations made in his book agreed well with the writings of Charles Reade. For sale by Horace North.

The last of the Science Primers issued by D. Appleton & Co. is "Inventional Geometry," by William George Spencer. The work consists of a series of problems intended to familiarize the pupil with geometrical conceptions, and to exercise his inventive faculty. It is based upon the principle that the best and only true education is self-education. Horace North has it for sale.
NEW MUSIC.

Among Ditson & Co.'s attractive issues of Sheet Music are: "Shall I Wear a White Rose?" a song so popular as to be published in two keys; a sweet little lay: "Little Birdie Mine," by Watson, and one of Pinsuti's elegant Italian melodies with English words, entitled: "What we have Loved, we Love forever." Also a concert-Polonaise of some difficulty, by Bohm, with the name: "With Chime and Song; a Gavotte: "Secret Love," good hearty music, by Resch, and a powerful "Marche aux Flambeaux," or "Torchlight Procession March," by F.
