I have to acknowledge a line from you on the subject of promoting the circulation of the Journal.—This useful paper meets with general approbation; but from the great number of papers received here, so large a subscription as I could wish is prevented; but as several of them will be discontinued, the number of your subscribers will increase. I consider the Journal as the most useful paper of any printed in the State: it might be made still more so, by publishing the laws of the United States. It appears to me there is a deficiency in government in not having the laws more public. I do not recollect of seeing published the Alien and Sedition Acts, against which such clamours are made in the southern states."
As Congress have resolved to increase our naval establishment we wish a compliment may be paid to a patriotic farmer in the vicinity of this town, who has for many years carefully preserved a beautiful grove of the largest oaks, and lately expressed a wish that he might have the honour of furnishing timber for at least one ship of the line.
Preparations we understand are making in Boston, for celebrating the birth-day of Lieutenant General WASHINGTON.
Several respectable Subscribers having suggested the propriety of giving a Price-Current in the Journal, we this day present one corrected by the latest New-York Price Current.

Main Argument
the journal is highly useful and will gain more subscribers as other papers are discontinued; it could be improved by publishing united states laws to address the government's deficiency in publicizing them, such as the unreported alien and sedition acts causing southern clamor.
