PORTSMOUTH, April 14

Extract of a letter from Tobago, to a gentleman in this town, dated March 14, 1795.

"Property in the West-Indies is very unsafe at present, we have information from Grenada, that the French have sent supplies of arms and ammunition to that island, and that the French inhabitants of Grenada and mulattoes had risen upon the British--burnt some estates, and we are fearful this insurrection will prove fatal to that flourishing island. I have but a moment to spare, as martial law is this day commenced, and we are obliged to hold ourselves in readiness at a moments warning."
