London, Oct. 14. Notwithstanding the wholesome Laws provided against the illegal Practice of Smuggling, the Sweets whereof are so great, while the Duties are so high, that 'tis to be feared there never will be wanting Men daring enough to venture their Lives and Fortunes for such extraordinary Gain; an Instance whereof was plainly seen on Thursday Morning, when, about Five o'Clock, a Gang of them well mounted, richly loaded, and strongly armed, rode openly over London Bridge, in Sight of some Officers; in whom it would not have been Prudence to attack them.
