127 Enrolled In
Evening Classes
At Trade School

Courses Arranged
In Loomfixing,
Cloth
Analysis
And
Design,
Machine Shop
Practice, Electricity
And Carpentry.

Evening Trade extension classes
have been organized at the Putnam
State Trade School, providing instruction
in the following courses:
Loomfixing, Cloth Analysis and Designing,
Machine shop practice, Electricity, and
Carpentry. There is a
total enrollment of 127 in these activities
at the present time, divided
as follows: Loomfixing, 58; cloth
analysis and designing, 12; machine
shop, 20; electricity, 14; carpentry,
23. The intent of this type of training
is to offer additional skill and
knowledge to those already employed
in an occupation.

Loomfixing classes have always
been particularly well patronized
and show a large enrollment this
year. In this connection, the loom-
fixing quarters have been considerably
expanded and improved. The
Grosvenordale Company, through
the interest and cooperation of John
Skedgell, agent, has loaned the
school an automatic Draper loom,
and a special class is organized for
instruction on this unit Saturday
mornings.

On registration night courses were
also offered in Masonry, Aircraft
Mechanics and various phases of
Drafting and Shop Mathematics, but
an insufficient registration made it
impossible to open these groups,
twelve to fifteen being needed to organize
a class.

In past years, courses in masonry,
particularly for farmers, have been
of interest and value to those who
wished to secure some skill and
knowledge of such work. A little
later on in the year it is felt that it
may be feasible to again organize
such a course in masonry. All those
who are interested in this work
should get in touch with the school
and signify their intention so that a
class can be made up on or before
the first of the year.

The machine shop course seems to
be of particular interest this year,
with an enrollment of twenty, and
is an excellent opportunity as it is
possible for those engaged in any
form of maintenance and machine
shop work to secure further instruction
in particular phases of machine
shop practice.

Those interested in spare time self-
improvement may secure full information
by applying at the school any
Monday or Thursday evening from
7.30 to 9.30, or at any time during
the day when the school is in session.
