A triple shooting tragedy, resulting in the sudden death of two men and the serious wounding of the third, occurred at Vicksburg on the night of the 18th. The participants in the fight were Capt. W. F. Fitzgerald, Capt. W. H. Andrews and Mr. W. L. Greene, the two latter being killed and the first wounded. The difficulty was about the Hibernian Society, both Fitzgerald and Andrews claiming the office of President. Greene was a friend of Andrews, and during a fierce dispute about the matter Greene made a motion to draw a pistol, when Fitzgerald whipped out his revolver and shot Greene through the heart. Andrews then shot Fitzgerald, and finally Fitzgerald shot Andrews. All were well known citizens.
