The locofoco papers are making a great ado about the "derangements in post office and mail matters." They specify no instance, and allege no specific charge. The whole is general and without foundation, and is done only to find fault and censure the Department, because the locofocos can no longer use it as an electioneering machine. We challenge the filing of charges in this matter.
The N. H. Patriot is wide mouthed in its insinuations against the Department.—Will it tell when and where the public has suffered by bad management since the new administration came into power? Take the post office in this town, for instance. Will any man say he would wish to have the present postmaster removed to give place again to his predecessor? We do not believe that a single man, other than a near relative of the late postmaster, would wish for such a change.
