Full Text
In regard to the subject of the communication of "a Citizen," we have now only a word or two to say. The "Celebration" was composed of the elite of the Polk party of this town, a few of the beauties of the same party in Danville, and the locofoco lawyers of Lyndon (with the honorable exception of Mr. Cahoon) with their usual complement of party scullions. These lawyers have often been in town to brow beat the Whigs and palm off their dogmas upon the people;—failing in this, they engaged in the celebration—got up, as has since been acknowledged by some of their party here, to insult and impose upon the Whigs in this part of our town.
