Since our last several Letters have been received in Town from Lancaster County, to the following Purport, viz. That there was nothing but Murdering and Captivating among them, by the Indians; That on the 17th ult. one Beatty was killed in Paxton: That the next Day James Mackey was murder'd in Hanover, and William and Joseph Barnet wounded: That the same Day were taken Prisoners, a Son of the said James Mackey, and a Son of Joseph Barnet; Elizabeth Dickey, and her Child; and the Wife of Samuel Young, and his Child: And that 94 Men, Women and Children were seen flying from their Places, in one Body, and a great many more in smaller Parties; so that it was feared some Settlements would be intirely forsaken.
