ALBANY, September 28. Some day last week, it is said, two young gentlemen of this city, on the road near Saratoga, attacked and killed a very large bear. When they first saw him, they determined on taking another road, and so have kept out of his way; but, this was only first thoughts, for in a moment they called to their recollection the year 77, when their fathers and brothers, near this place, exhibited specimens of the most undaunted courage and resolution in their country's cause: fired with the recollection, they rushed on him, although they had no fire arms, and killed him in less than 10 minutes. On his being examined by the people of that part of the country, they have given it as their opinion, that he is one of that large kind known in this country about a century ago, but which were supposed to have been long since extinct. He weighed near 600 weight.
