Some of the Indians at the Congress held at one of the Mohawk Castles in April last, who had been at Montreal, told Sir William Johnson that the French were in great Want of Provisions and that the Governor of Canada said to them he was reduced to one Leg, expecting Reinforcements from France up the River St. Lawrence before the English, and advised them to take care of themselves. It was conjectured he had no Provisions, Goods, nor Ammunition to give, hence the speech.
