BASSATERRE, Dec. 1.

WE learn that the Greyhound privateer fell in with and engaged, off St. Eustatia, a French sloop mounting 10 six-pounders (the said sloop was formerly commanded by Capt. Reed, and called the Tiger) and after a severe conflict of near an hour and a half, and in which, by all appearances, the Frenchman was pretty severely handled, and the Greyhound having her Captain and four or five men wounded, and receiving some other damage, they both sheered off, and the Greyhound arrived here yesterday morning.
